As much as we love projectors, sometimes there are situations where projection is not practical or possible. Even with the use of ultra wide lenses or projection mirrors there are occasions where even minimal throw distance is not an option. Any projections worst enemy is ambient light, in particular daylight. Projection just isn't an option outside in daylight or sometimes even in a stage setup where a stage lighting is going to hit the screen. Enter LED. LED screens have various specifications and sizes but are typically constructed from a number of manageable sized panels. Often the most important factor in choosing an LED screen is the resolution or pixel pitch of the panel. Because LED screens are often used for large outdoor events, the resolution of an individual panel can be very low but as these are often built into a very large screen the total resolution can be as high or higher than HD. It is of equal importance to factor the distance the audience is from the screen as at 50m from a screen nobody's going to notice the individual LEDs!
